Reed's Crossing is halfway sold out!
Since 2019, when local press dubbed Reed’s Crossing “not your grandpa’s suburbs,” our award-winning master-planned community in the heart of the Silicon Forest has delighted homebuyers with sustainable homes, acres of green space, and a feeling of community that can seem lacking in the modern world. Fast forward to today, and we’ve reached an incredible milestone—we’re halfway sold out!
Reed’s Crossing is an entirely new type of community in South Hillsboro designed with modern homebuyers in mind. One of the key components of that? Diversity—from social and economic diversity to housing and streetscape diversity. With a mixed-use, master-planned community, you can dream big and create a unique sense of place that feels like home. It’s a complete, integrated experience that offers everything Portland-area buyers love.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. To celebrate reaching the halfway point in home sales, we looked at the top five reasons residents choose Reed’s Crossing to build their new homes. Read on to see what they said!
1. It’s a perfectly situated location
Sitting at the gateway to South Hillsboro, Reed’s Crossing was designed to let people leave their cars at home—some of the state’s biggest job centers are less than 5 miles away, including Intel and Nike. And, at just 474 acres, it’s significantly more intimate than most master-planned communities, with over 50 miles of walkable and bikeable routes throughout that make it easier than ever to get around.
Beyond the community itself, Hillsboro is ideally located to reach most everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer. It’s about 13 miles from downtown Portland and under 100 miles from wine country, the coast, skiing, waterfalls, and hot springs. Add a little more time, and you’ve got an easy day trip to many popular PNW destinations. That’s just one reason it’s been named a Best Place to Live every year since 2021!
“The one thing you cannot change about your home is the location. So be very confident about where you get that home, because it's going to be there forever. I moved from Dallas, and I fell in love with how green, beautiful, and outdoorsy Oregon is. The way Reed’s Crossing is set up preserves that, so I felt that confidence when buying a home here.” — Janki, resident since 2021
2. It’s close to shopping, food, and services
Hillsboro’s historic downtown feels a bit like stepping into a Hallmark movie, full of charming shops and restaurants, while the Reed’s Crossing Town Center is located less than a mile away from every home within the community. In addition to a Market of Choice grocery store, Town Center will be home to a mix of local favorites like Insomnia Coffee, Hops n Drops, Pets on Broadway, and White Birch Design Company as well as nationally recognized names like Shake Shack, Jamba, Wells Fargo, and more.
Across the street, Providence Health Center is designed around a more personal healthcare experience, with primary and urgent care for all ages. Inside, you’ll find Active Wellness Center, with indoor/outdoor pools, boutique fitness studios, the latest cardio and strength training, and lifestyle programs designed to holistically bring together fitness and wellness. Town Center is also home to The Ackerly at Reed’s Crossing, a resort-style residential option for retirees and older adults, as well as Savanna at Reed’s Crossing, rental townhomes and apartments perfect for those who aren’t quite ready to buy a home but still want to be part of our bustling community.
“The additions to Town Center, the retail, and the developments that are coming are pretty exciting. To be within walking distance of a wide variety of retail options was a big draw of moving to Reed’s Crossing.” — Ian, resident since 2020
3. It’s filled with open space, walking paths, and parks
With four times the required amount of open space, Reed’s Crossing will be home to over 80 acres by completion—that’s nearly 20% of the community! Boasting six parks (so far), the community also features many small gathering spaces dotted between the homes, including a community garden, picnic areas, café tables, and fire pits perfect for chatting with neighbors. Running through the center of the community, an expansive 23-acre Greenway helps residents connect, work out, or relax while providing a protected habitat for local wildlife, from frogs to egrets and blue herons.
The neighborhood also provides a valuable place for children to learn about the local ecosystem in their very own outdoor classroom, the Nature Education Area. This cleverly designed park encourages kids to play, learn, explore, and ask questions, and serves as an excellent class trip for one of Hillsboro’s newest elementary schools, located within the community next to Tamarack Park, or for the popular OMSI summer camps.
“Getting an opportunity to play with the ducks right outside your home in the green space is truly a blessing. Our daughter is having the best time at Reed's Crossing.” — Pallavi, resident since 2021
4. It prioritizes sustainability & healthy living
Recent studies show that over 90 percent of shoppers prioritize energy efficiency when looking for a new home. Here, every home is built to Earth Advantage Silver or equivalent certification, meeting strict green building standards in five categories: energy efficiency, indoor air quality, resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and water conservation. All homes are solar-ready and are designed with electric vehicle charging stations in mind. And, unlike the resale market, many builders at Reed’s Crossing offer custom or semi-custom plans, working with homebuyers to build their perfect home.
Beyond the homes themselves, the entire community is designed to support healthy habits. We live the truth of “one with nature,” creating responsible open space designs that are naturally in sync with sustaining wellness. Social connectedness and human interaction are critical to our well-being, so our community is thoughtfully planned to invite opportunities to engage with your neighbors.
“We really wanted to make sure we had the space to spread out that our dogs and our boys deserved, but we also wanted a feeling of community. Then we found Reed’s Crossing, and it just checked all of our boxes.” — Jessica, resident since 2021
5. It has a true sense of community
When you build a new community from the ground up, the residents are active participants in creating the neighborhood’s vibe. Many who bought homes at Reed’s Crossing in the early days tell us the main thing they were looking for was a strong sense of community. And this is reflected in their daily lives; from walking clubs to book clubs, whether you want someone to sip a quiet glass of wine with or you want to throw a block party, this is a place where people truly come together.
Community events sponsored by the Reed’s Crossing HOA are a big draw for new homeowners, too. With a robust events calendar that covers everything from recurring events, like a monthly food truck night, to seasonal and holiday events, like Holi and Halloween, there is always somewhere to go and something to do. Plus, the beloved Hillsboro Farmers’ Market hosts a market right here in Reed’s Crossing Park. What better way to get out and meet your neighbors?
“We just love to get outside, and we see our neighbors out walking constantly. We’re like, ‘Let’s go! We’ve gotta go, everyone’s out!’ I think that’s the biggest thing; there are so many paths, green spaces, and parks to go to that it’s made us more social.” — Melissa, resident since 2021
